Contract Management/E-Signatures

Sending Contracts for E-Signature

Send contracts for electronic signature and track signing status.

Once a contract has been reviewed and approved, you can send it for electronic signature directly from Lawis. E-signatures are powered by DamanSign, a legally recognized electronic signature provider.

Before you send

Before sending a contract for signature, make sure:

  • The contract content is finalized — changes after sending will require a new signature process
  • You have the correct email addresses for all signatories
  • The contract status has been updated to In Review or is ready for execution

Sending for signature

  1. Open the contract

Navigate to the contract you want to send from the contracts list.

  2. Click Send for Signature

This button is in the contract editor's top toolbar (available to contract owners and Admins).

  3. Add signatories

Enter the name and email address of each party who needs to sign. You can add multiple signatories and define the signing order if required.

  4. Confirm and send

Review the signatory list and click Send. Each signatory will receive an email from DamanSign with a link to review and sign the document.

Tracking signature status

Once sent, the contract status changes to Pending Signature. You can track progress from:

  • The contract list's Pending Signature tab — shows all contracts awaiting signature
  • The contract editor's signature panel — shows each signatory's status (Pending / Signed)

You'll receive an email notification when each signatory has signed, and a final notification when all signatures are complete.

What signatories experience

Signatories receive an email invitation with a secure link. They can review the full contract in their browser — no Lawis account is required. After reviewing, they sign by clicking Sign and confirming their identity. The process is mobile-friendly and typically takes less than 2 minutes.

After all signatures are collected

When all parties have signed:

  • The contract status changes to Signed
  • A completed, signed PDF is generated and stored in Lawis
  • All parties receive a copy of the signed document by email
  • The signed contract is accessible in the Signed tab of your contracts list

Downloading a signed contract

To download the executed contract, open it from the Signed tab and click Download PDF. The PDF includes the signature certificates and timestamps from all parties.

Legal validity

DamanSign e-signatures comply with applicable electronic signature legislation in supported jurisdictions. For specific requirements regarding your jurisdiction or industry, consult your legal team before relying on e-signatures for specific contract types.
