What is the Search Engine?
Search 205,000+ legal sources across UAE, Morocco, and GCC jurisdictions.
The Lawis Search Engine gives you instant access to one of the largest legal databases in the GCC and North Africa — covering laws, decrees, regulations, and court decisions from multiple jurisdictions.
What the Search Engine covers
Lawis indexes more than 205,000 legal documents, including:
- Laws and Statutes — primary legislation, civil codes, labor codes, commercial laws
- Decrees and Orders — royal decrees, ministerial orders, executive decisions
- Regulations and Circulars — secondary legislation, administrative regulations
- Court Decisions — jurisprudence from supreme courts, appeals courts, and tribunals
Jurisdictions
The search database spans multiple countries across the GCC and North Africa:
- UAE — Federal and Emirate-level legislation, DIFC and ADGM laws
- Morocco — 16,000+ laws, 35,000+ court decisions
- Saudi Arabia — Royal decrees, ministerial resolutions
- Burkina Faso and other OHADA jurisdictions
- Switzerland — Federal legislation
How to access it
From the main application at app.lawis.ai, click Search in the left navigation. You can also navigate directly to /search from any screen.
The Search Engine uses semantic AI search — you don't need exact keyword matches. Ask in plain language like "What are the notice periods for employment termination in UAE?" and it will find the most relevant legal sources.
How it's different from AI Chat
The Search Engine returns a list of source documents ranked by relevance — ideal for research and finding primary sources. The AI Chat, on the other hand, gives you a synthesized answer citing those same sources.
Use Search when you want to browse documents; use Chat when you want a direct answer to a specific question.
