Legal Engine/Jurisdiction Coverage

Jurisdiction & Language Coverage

Countries, legal systems, and languages supported across the Lawis platform.

Lawis is built specifically for the legal landscape of the GCC and North Africa. The legal database and AI capabilities are optimized for the jurisdictions and languages most relevant to legal professionals in these regions.

Language support

The Legal Engine is multilingual — you can ask questions and receive answers in:

  • French — full coverage for Morocco, Burkina Faso, Switzerland
  • Arabic — UAE and Morocco documents, Arabic Q&A
  • English — UAE (DIFC, ADGM, free zones), GCC multinationals

The engine automatically detects the language of your question and responds in the same language, regardless of the source document's language. If a French legal provision is most relevant to an English question, the AI will translate and cite the relevant excerpt.

Changing jurisdiction context

In the AI Chat, use the Country selector in the message input to switch jurisdiction context. This focuses the engine's retrieval on the selected country's legal database, improving relevance and reducing results from other jurisdictions.

Your preferred jurisdiction is also saved in your App Preferences (accessible from Settings) so you don't need to set it for every conversation.

Coming soon

Lawis is continuously expanding its legal database. Additional GCC jurisdictions (Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, Bahrain) are being added. Contact us at saad.lachhab@lawis.ai if you need coverage for a specific jurisdiction.
